Abstract

This article identifies the problems that pupils face in science following transfer from KS2. Some of the solutions attempted by schools are reviewed. There is a need for more work that explores the issues of curriculum continuity and an understanding of pedagogy. Ways in which this might be achieved including the use of 'bridging' work are discussed.
