Science and Special Educational Needs - the STRATA project

This CPDU has been developed by Cambridgeshire teachers, involved in the STRATA (Science to Raise and Track Achievement) project, to support the work of teachers of pupils with Special Educational Needs in Science.

The Objective
Science should be accessible to all children if you use everyday contexts. The activities need to be age appropriate and in a different context if the topic is revisited. Pupils with Special Educational Needs will make progress even if the steps are very small but only if the activity is structured to allow this to happen.

Evaluation
All Continuing Professional Development Units are created and written by education professionals who have given their time and expertise to the project.

Using this CPDU
This CPDU uses a large quantity of video clips and other images. It is best viewed using a broadband connection and may take some time to open. The sample lesson included is particularly large and may not be fully accessible with a dial up connection.
