Trust Projects
Gravesend Consortium (Cluster Project)
The Making Sense of Science project was introduced in Thanet last year. It was managed by SPE and paid for by the LEA and was very successful. This cluster of twelve schools intends to follow a similar model of in-service training.
Overview
Programme
The Thanet pilot will be followed in Gravesend using the Making Sense of Science material. SPE will co-ordinate inputs from Goldsmiths and Kent Advisory Services who will provide appropriate in-service courses. Through the project, teachers should have audited their strengths and weaknesses, identified needs and implemented a programme to improve teaching and learning in science. As an outcome each teacher will have completed a project which may be assessed against the criteria for National Professional Qualification for Subject Leaders.
