Trust Projects
Bexley LEA (Cluster Project)
Nineteen primary schools are involved in this cluster. It aims to draw on the NIAS project in order to embed improvement and link it to school development plans.
Overview
Programme
The aim of the programme is to raise the profile of the investigative nature of science in schools.
The idea is to extend investigative science by improving skills and confidence. Audits of resources and training needs over several sections of the National Curriculum have helped the cluster frame its subject priorities. The programme includes:
- training for teachers, co-ordinators or whole groups working on specific elements to more expansive activities such as science weeks and science clubs
- emphasis on the use of ICT by all
- surgeries for co-ordinators and focused training for small groups
We held a Science Fest in January at a local shopping centre. Bursted Woods, one of the AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust funded schools, participated in activities with London Power Networks and the Schools Waste Action Club (SWAC).
