Unit summary
The main aim of this unit has been to suggest that science displays have the potential to be pedagogical tools in their own right. In other words, their design and construction should be thought of as making a vital contribution to children’s learning about science.
What sorts of displays have you considered? Are they displays, for example, that could develop children’s ICT skills, or might they be trying to prompt children to ask more searching questions about their investigations?
An effective science display then is one that is much more than just a by-product or outcome of children’s work. Displays can have different purposes and serve different needs.
